Advisors
Advisors serve as the essential connection between the University of Alaska Southeast students and the SIFE organization. They provide guidance where needed and, in general, assist students in pursuing their dreams of creating a better community.
SIFE describes the advisor as "without question, the driving force behind SIFE is the team faculty advisor – named as the Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow in honor of the late founder of Wal*Mart. Much more than teachers, these advisors wear the title of coach, mentor, career advisor and friend. Their duties range from motivating their teams to helping their students write resumes. They serve as trusted sources of advice as their students sort through the various career opportunities and make the transition from school to the work force."
Advisors for the UAS SIFE team are Rick Wolk and Steve Hamilton.
Rick Wolk is the assistance professor of marketing at UAS. He introduced the SIFE program to UAS just in the year 2007 after working with SIFE for many years at APU (Alaska Pacific University). His passions revolve around eco-entrepreneurship where he is currently pursuing his PhD from a university in the UK.
Steve Hamilton is the professor of management at UAS. He began working with the SIFE program this in 2007 but has been advising students for many, many years. He has the experience and skills to assist students to make dreams a reality. He currently lives in Anchorage, delivering his courses via distance means, working to attract students from all over Alaska.
